The Academy of Information Technology (AIT) was engaged by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide an English Language Course for drivers in Cox’s Bazar.
The initiative reflects AIT’s role in delivering practical, workplace-oriented language training to professionals working in one of Bangladesh’s most important humanitarian response locations.
Supporting Professional Communication Through Language Training
Effective communication is an important part of professional service delivery, particularly in humanitarian and field-based environments where staff regularly interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
Recognizing this need, UNHCR engaged the Academy of Information Technology to conduct an English Language Course for its drivers in Cox’s Bazar.
The engagement was formalized through Purchase Order No. 2315, issued by UNHCR to AIT for the provision of training services.
According to the purchase order, the course was based on AIT’s submitted proposal and was scheduled for completion by 31 August 2020.
AIT’s Role as the Training Service Provider
As the contracted service provider, AIT was responsible for delivering the English language training in accordance with the agreed service requirements.
The engagement demonstrates AIT’s capacity to provide customized training services for organizations operating in Cox’s Bazar, responding to specific workplace learning requirements.
A Training Initiative for Drivers
The project specifically focused on English language training for drivers.
Rather than being a general institutional training program, the course was commissioned to address the professional needs of drivers working with UNHCR.
The purchase order describes the work assignment simply as:
“English Language Course for the Drivers.”
This focused approach allowed the training engagement to be structured around a clearly defined professional group and service requirement.
Training in Cox’s Bazar
Cox’s Bazar has long served as an important location for humanitarian and development operations. For organizations working in the area, professional capacity and effective communication are essential components of day-to-day operations.
AIT’s engagement with UNHCR placed the institution within this broader professional environment, providing specialized language training services for UNHCR drivers.
The project also highlights AIT’s ability to work with international organizations and provide training services tailored to specific operational requirements.
A Partnership with UNHCR
The engagement with UNHCR represents an important institutional collaboration for the Academy of Information Technology.
UNHCR’s purchase order confirms AIT as the contracted supplier for the English language course, while the terms of the engagement established the expected service, completion deadline and payment arrangements.
The contract was to remain effective until satisfactory completion of the specified services, and in any case no later than 31 August 2020, unless terminated earlier under the applicable contractual terms.
