AIT Partners with T&H ISC to Strengthen Skills Development Under SICIP

The Academy of Information Technology (AIT) has entered into a partnership with the Tourism & Hospitality Industry Skills Council (T&H ISC) as a partner training provider under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP).

Supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented under the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh, SICIP is designed to strengthen Bangladesh’s skilled workforce in priority and emerging industry sectors.

Through this partnership, AIT will contribute to skills development initiatives in the Tourism & Hospitality sector, supporting the broader objectives of SICIP to develop a skilled technical and managerial workforce.

Building a Skilled Workforce for Industry

The Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) was undertaken by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance with financial support from the Asian Development Bank.

The program focuses on developing skilled human resources for priority industry sectors through partnerships with government institutes, universities, industries and industry associations, and non-government organizations.

As part of this initiative, the Tourism & Hospitality Industry Skills Council (T&H ISC) received grants from SICIP to conduct skills development training in different trades within the Tourism & Hospitality sector.

The program has set an ambitious target of reaching 7,000 trainees over four years and two months, making collaboration with quality training institutions an important component of its implementation.

AIT Joins as a Partner Training Provider

Recognizing the importance of working with capable training institutions, T&H ISC decided to establish partnerships with organizations experienced in skills development.

The Academy of Information Technology was selected as a partner training provider, leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between T&H ISC and AIT.

Under this partnership, both organizations agreed to work together to implement skills development training in different trades within the Tourism & Hospitality sector under SICIP.

For AIT, the partnership represents an opportunity to contribute its training capacity and institutional experience to a nationally supported workforce development program.

Partnership Between Industry and Training

The collaboration brings together an industry skills council and a dedicated training institution.

Tourism & Hospitality Industry Skills Council (T&H ISC) serves as the industry association involved in the SICIP initiative, while Academy of Information Technology (AIT) serves as the partner organization and training center.

This industry-training partnership is aligned with SICIP’s broader approach of connecting skills development with the needs of priority industries.

By creating stronger links between industry organizations and training providers, the initiative aims to support the development of workforce capabilities relevant to Bangladesh’s evolving Tourism & Hospitality sector.

Focus on Tourism & Hospitality Skills

Tourism and hospitality require a workforce with practical, technical, and managerial capabilities. The SICIP framework recognizes skills development as an important component of strengthening priority sectors and improving industry competitiveness.

Through its partnership with T&H ISC, AIT will participate in the delivery of skills development training across different trades within the Tourism & Hospitality sector.

The partnership provides a platform for AIT to engage with an industry-focused skills development initiative while contributing to the broader national objective of developing a skilled workforce.

A Partnership for Industry Competitiveness

The name of the program itself reflects its central objective: Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation.

A stronger skills ecosystem can connect training institutions, industry bodies and learners more effectively. The partnership between T&H ISC and AIT is structured around this principle, bringing together industry representation and training capacity to support SICIP’s workforce development goals.

For AIT, participation in SICIP reinforces its commitment to practical skills development and industry-oriented training.
