AIT Cox’s Bazar Joins the ILO-Backed ISEC Project to Open Doors for Women and Youth

Cox’s Bazar is known for its beach, but its biggest asset is its young people. The Academy of Information Technology (AIT), Cox’s Bazar, is now part of an effort to turn that potential into skills, jobs and income.

On 16 March 2025, AIT signed a service contract with the Cox’s Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CBCCI). Under it, AIT will deliver training as a Skills Training Provider (STP) for the ILO-managed “Leaving No One Behind: Improving Skills and Economic Opportunities for the Women and Youth of Cox’s Bazar (ISEC)” project.

What is the ISEC project?

ISEC is run with the International Labour Organization (ILO). Its name states its goal: no one in Cox’s Bazar should be left out of the chance to learn a skill and earn a living, especially women and young people. The CBCCI works with local training institutions to bring that goal to the people who need it.

What will AIT do?

As a Skills Training Provider, AIT will run three kinds of programmes:

  • Non-traditional training courses, which open skilled trades and careers to people who haven’t had easy access to them.
  • Apprenticeship programmes, which combine learning with hands-on workplace experience.
  • Upskilling courses, which help people who already work or have some training build stronger, more marketable skills.

Training that meets national standards

All of these courses will follow the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) and the National Skills Quality Assurance System (NSQAS). AIT’s training venue will also be accredited by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA). Learners will therefore get nationally recognised, quality-assured training, not just a certificate of attendance.

Why it matters for Cox’s Bazar

A recognised qualification is often the difference between searching for work and being hired. By bringing standards-based, competency-focused training to women and youth in the district, AIT and its partners are helping to build a skilled local workforce for the tourism, services, digital and trade sectors.

A partnership built on trust

The contract was signed by CBCCI President Abu Murshed Chowdhury and AIT Chairman Nazmul Karim Faroq. It reflects a shared commitment between the local business community, an international development partner and a vocational training institute.

What’s next

Details on courses, intake dates and eligibility will be announced soon. Follow AIT’s website and social media for updates, or visit us at Saima Ocean City, 3rd Floor, Alir Jahal, Cox’s Bazar.
