The project was implemented in Subrang Union, Teknaf Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, with a total of 40 training classes, consisting of 10 theory classes and 30 practical classes. A total of 40 participants successfully completed the training.
Project Description
The project was designed to develop the motor driving skills of youth from marginal communities and create sustainable, market-oriented livelihood and employment opportunities. The initiative was implemented under the broader objective of “Youth and Women Empowerment through Skill Development and Social Enterprise, for marginal communities in Bangladesh.”
The training was delivered by Academy of Information Technology (AIT) and focused on both theoretical knowledge and practical driving skills. The participants were trained on traffic rules and regulations, safe and defensive driving, vehicle control, different road conditions, parking and maneuvering, emergency situations, basic vehicle maintenance, servicing, and basic auto mechanics.
The practical sessions included free-hand driving, night driving, driving under different road conditions, hill-track driving, and vehicle maintenance-related workshop sessions. The participants were also assessed through pre-tests, written tests, practical driving assessments, post-tests, and questionnaire-based evaluations. The final assessment indicated that the training was conducted according to the course outline and successfully met the participants’ expectations and overall training objectives.
Expected Result
The project was expected to strengthen the participants’ technical and practical driving competencies and prepare them for employment and self-employment opportunities related to motor driving.
The completed project resulted in:
- 40 participants successfully completing the training.
- Improved knowledge of traffic rules, road safety and defensive driving.
- Improved practical skills in vehicle control, parking, maneuvering and driving under different road conditions.
- Increased knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, servicing and auto mechanics.
- Improved confidence and safety awareness among the participants.
- Participants received course completion certificates and learner driving licenses after successful completion of the training. – As an initial impact, the report states that the participants had already started driving and were able to drive in different road conditions.
Overall, the project successfully contributed to skills development, improved employability, and livelihood opportunities for the participating youth while promoting safer and more responsible driving practices.
